Nation’s Capital Has A Full Calendar of National Drive Electric Week Events

Residents of the Washington DC area have a full calendar of activities to enjoy during National Drive Electric Week 2015. With 8 events in the cities of Frederick, Herndon, Poolesville, Falls Church, Annapolis, Ashburn and Washington DC, you’ll never be more than a charging station away from a variety of activities.

The Electric Vehicle Association of Greater DC (EVADC) Capstone Event is the gathering of electric vehicles on 3rd Street between the National Mall and the US Capitol, Washington DC from 10 Am to 4 PM. Organizers are expecting approximately 20 electric vehicles to be on display with the Capital Building in the background. They will be distributing packets of material including about information on tax incentives, charging stations, available EVs and more. Hosted by the EVADC, this is the final event of a busy weekend in the Greater DC area.

MOM’s Organic Market’s Frederick, MD location at 5273 Buckeystown Pike, will be home to an event on Friday, September 18th, 2015 from 3 PM to 8 PM. Check out a variety of EVs and talk to owners before heading into the store known for local, organic food and being a 100% wind powered. If you’re in Herndon, VA on the 18, head to the MOM's Organic Market at 424 Elden St, Herndon, VA 20171 for activities beginning at 3 PM.

On Saturday September 19, National Drive Electric Week events will be part of Poolesville Day, an annual celebration that draws around 10,000 people. Hosted by Poolesville Green in conjunction with the City of Poolesville, EV drivers are invited to participate in the parade and car show. Car show participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt.

The 3rd Annual Annapolis EV Showcase on City Dock takes place Sunday, September 13 from Noon to 4 PM. Sponsored by Annapolis Green with support from EVADC, the event already has vehicles ranging from a Think City to a Tesla Model S scheduled to be displayed. BMW is bringing an i3 to the event and Mercedes-Benz will be displaying one of their B-Class electric cars. A local installer of home charging stations will also be at the event to answer questions and demonstrate how home charging works. Also happening on Sunday, September 19 is a screening of Revenge of the Electric Car at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, 20575 East Hampton Plaza, Ashburn, VA 20147. Along with the film, enjoy a panel discussion with owner’s of electric vehicles.
