Odyssey - National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day

National Alternative Fuel Vehicle (AFV) Day Odyssey is a biennial, outreach and education event dedicated to promoting the use of AFVs and advanced technology vehicles. Odyssey 2014 will be held throughout the month of October from the 10-25. The nationwide events are comprised of green transportation related events hosted by the NAFTC member, Clean Cities Coalitions and local believers in clean energy. These events will participate in ride and drives, workshops and demonstrations. There is often industry experts at the Odyssey events to answer questions and to educate the local communities.

Odyssey plans to attract more than 250,000 attendees at 100 sites across the country and to reach more than 100 million people through media coverage and support.

Phoenix, AZ

The Valley of the Sun Clean Cities Coalition will host their Odyssey event in Phoenix at the Gateway Community College Campus. This event will highlight the contribution that alternative fuel vehicles can make in the event of an interruption of conventional motor fuel availability. 

Tuscon, AZ

The Central Coast Clean Cities will be hosting their event at in Tuscon on October 18 at the Foothills Mall. Highlighted will be alternative fuel vehicles, information booths, and enthusiast to talk about the new technologies.

Coachella, CA

The Southern California Energy Summit will be held at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The event will host guest speakers such as JB Straubel Tesla Co-Founder and CTO, Darrell Smith from Microsoft, and Kevin de Leon California Senate President Tempore-elect.

Cupertino, CA

Breathe California and Silicon Valley Clean Cities Coalition and National Drive Electric Week will partner to host their Odyssey Day event at the Hospitality & Education Center in San Jose. The main focus will be educating attendees on converting diesel and gas powered vehicles to electric.

Sacramento, CA

The Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition is hosting the 5th Annual North American Green Fleet Forum on October 16. There will be zero emission vehicle ride and drives, a BBQ and a chance to drive an all electric or hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.

New Haven, CT

Yale University will partner with Connecticut Clean Cities Coalition to celebrate its National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey event on October 6. The event will be held at the Yale West Campus Conference Center and will display electric vehicles, hybrids, natural gas, and propane cars and trucks.

Fresno, CA

The National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey event will be held at the Fresno City College in Fresno, CA Friday October 17. The event will showcase electric cars and other alternative fuel vehicles like propane and hydrogen fuel cells.

Washington, D.C.

The National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey national kickoff event will be held on October 17 at the National Mall in Washington D.C. It will be hosted by the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition. The event will bring many organizations, vehicle manufacturers and businesses to showcase alternative transportation technologies and their benefits.

Hammond, IN

South Shore Clean Cities is partnering with Fair Oaks Farms CowtoberFest Saturday October 11. They will have alternative vehicles display like the THINK electric car. The event will include Trick or Treating, a hay maze, and pumpkin carving. 

Lansing, MI

The Greater Lansing Area Clean Cities will host their Alternative Fuel Vehicles Odyssey Day event at the Lansing Community College, West Campus on October 17. The event offers sessions to educate attendees on cleaner transportation technologies.

St. Louis, MO

St. Louis Clean Cities will host the Alternative Fuel Vehicles Odyssey Day event at the Rockwood Summit Hight School on October 16 from 11-4:30pm. There will be electric vehicles and other alternative fuel vehicles like a shuttle and school bus.

Raleigh, NC

The North Carolina Energy Technology Center is hosting the Southeast Alternative Fuel Conference and Expo at the Raleigh Convention Center October 22-24. The conference will showcase over 50 exhibitors, 100 speakers and 20 alternatively powered vehicles. Keynote speakers include U.S. Department of Energy Deputy Assistant Secretary Reuben Sarkar, Jim Mottavalli of the New York Times, and General Duncan McNabb, former U.S. Transportation Command. 

Rockaway, NJ

New Jersey Clean Cities Coalition looks to raise awareness of the use of alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicles during their National Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Conference on October 14. The event will be held from 8:30-12 at the National Conference Center at the Holiday Inn in East Windsor. The program includes presentations by nationally recognized industry experts, displays of alternatively fueled vehicles and exhibits by several companies.

New York, NY

On October 16, Empire Clean Cities will host their Odyssey Day in the hear of New York City at Union Square Park. With more than 350,000 people in Union Square on a weekday, the event will bring many enthusiast and curious attendees to the event.

Cleveland, OH

The Ohio Technical College with be hosting Cleveland's Odyssey event at their campus on October 15. Andrew Chiarelli of Motorcars will be the featured speaker of the event. The event will showcase information booths, alternative fuel cars, and many enthusiast. 

Portland, OR

Portland's Alternative Fuel Vehicles Odyssey Day event will be sponsored by the Columbia-Willamette Clean Cities Coalition and the Oregon Department of Energy. The event will be held at the Sylvania Portland Community College on Friday October 17. Attendees can talk to vendors and enthusiasts about the benefits of driving with alternative fuel. 

Pittsburgh, PA

Pittsburgh Region Clean Cities will host their Odyssey Day event this year at the West Hills Center of the Community College of Allegheny College on October 17. Alternative fueled vehicles will be on display and experts will be on hand to answer any questions. 

Fortworth, TX

The Dallas-Fort Worth Clean Cities Coalition is celebrating Alternative Fuel Vehicle Day Odyssey on October 25 at the University of Texas at Arlington. Alternative fuel cars will be on display and information on the clean technology will be abundant. 

Tyler, TX

The Tyler Junior College Odyssey event will be held at their campus on October 18 from 10-4pm. The event will showcase vehicles including the Chevrolet Volt, Hyundai Sonata hybrid and many others to see and drive.

Burlington, VT

The Vermont Clean Cities Coalitions will host the 2014 Odyssey event on Church Street in Burlington. On display for the event will be a mix of alternative fuel vehicles including electric, propane, biodiesel and natural gas. The event will take place October 17 from 11-2 pm. 

Milwaukee, WI

Wisconsin Clean Cities will host their Odyssey event on October 15. Activities will include a vehicle showcase and electric vehicle charging demonstrations. Discussions will cover the green vehicle movement, how it’s grown and why it’s important to consider, and demystify the stereotypes of alternative fuels and technologies.
