Two cities in Texas will be hosting events to comemorate National Drive Electric Week 2016 including Houston and Grapevine.

The Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) Clean Cities Coalition and Electric Vehicles North Texas are excited to host the 2016 area's event. This year’s DFW event will be held on Saturday, September 17th, from 10 AM to 2 PM in the Grapevine Mills Mall parking lot, 3000 Grapevine Mills Pkwy., Grapevine, TX 76051.

Three events, in Aurora, Boulder, and Colorado Springs, are sponsored by the American Lung Association in Colorado, in partnership with the Denver Metro Clean Cities and Southern Colorado Clean Cities Coalitions. Audi Unveils 300-Mile All-Electric SUV Prototype at LA Auto Show

Audi unveiled a prototype all-electric SUV with a 300-mile range as well as announcing a network of DC charging stations at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2015. The SUV prototype is projected to be available in 2018. Featuring a 95 kWh battery pack, the SUV will be Audi's first all-electric vehicle and will have a range of more than 300 miles.

Volvo Predicts 10% of Sales to be Electrified by 2020

"We believe that the time has come for electrified cars to cease being a niche technology and enter the mainstream," said Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars, in a release from the end of 2016 outlining the company's global electrification strategy. "We are confident that by 2020, 10% of Volvo’s global sales will be electrified cars." According to the release, the plan includes introducing more plug-in hybrids across their product line. The company also says it will develop a new range of smaller electric cars and build an all-electric car for sale by 2019.

Audi Expects 25% of N. American Sales to be Electric by 2025

In a press conference held at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November 2015, Audi of America President Scott Keogh outlined the brand's future electric vehicle plans. He called the moment a pivotal time in the marquee's history noting that electric was the future. During the presentation, he said that the company recognizes the importance of electric vehicles and that Audi expects at least 25 percent of North American sales to be electric vehicles by 2025.

Nissan CEO Ghosn makes climate change declaration: "We must do more"

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn declared "The time for debate is over" and the time is now to address climate change. The bold statement was made in a guest column he posted on Forbes.com in December 2015. The post was written following the 2015 Paris Climate Conference and helped explain why Ghosn and 12 other automotive CEOs committed publicly to help decarbonizing automotive transportation. In his post he wrote "If the world is to reduce manmade greenhouse gas emissions that are the cause of global climate change, we must accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy now, starting with cleaner transportation."

Chevrolet Unveils Production Bolt at CES

Faraday Future Unveils Concept Race Car EV at 2016 CES

Startup EV manufacturer Faraday Future announced they will unveil a concept electric vehicle at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January. The LA-based company says they will have a car available in 2017. Details about this initial model are limited, but based on teaser images, it appears the company's first vehicle will be a crossover SUV that would be a rival to the Tesla Model X.

Bollore's Blueindy begins offering electric car sharing service in Indianapolis

BlueIndy has put into service the first 50 of an eventual 500 electric vehicle car sharing program. The cars, located at strategic points in the city, provide on-demand transportation with the swipe of a membership card. The zero emission Bluecars run on Lithium Metal Polymer (LMP) batteries developed by Bolloré and have a range of 120 miles between charges. As of September 2015, 125 reserved parking spaces were equipped with charge points.
