The Greater Los Angeles metro area has several events scheduled for National Drive Electric Week.

Long Beach organizers expect more than 25 electric cars as well as electric buses, 18 wheelers, bicycles and motorcycles to be on display at their event scheduled from 9 AM to Noon on Saturday, September 12, at Houghton Park, 6301 Myrtle Ave. Long Beach, CA 90805. This event is co-sponsored by Representative Alan Lowenthal, Congresswoman Janice Hahn, Senator Ricardo Lara, Long Beach Councilmember Rex Richardson, as well as the Sierra Club, Tesla Club LA, OC Tesla Club, BYD, Southern California Association of Electric Vehicles, South Coast Air Quality Management District, California Air Resources Board, Audubon Society, Children’s Day, Pedego of Greater Long Beach, American Green Zone Alliance, Evergreene, Ameco Solar, many neighborhood associations, the Long Beach Coalition for a Safe Environment, and Long Beach Surfriders. 

The City of Torrance Event will begin at 9 AM behind Katy Geissert Main Library on 3301 Torrance Blvd,, Torrance, CA 90503, Saturday, September 12 and will run from 9 AM to 2 PM. The event kicks off with a ribbon cutting ceremony for new, public charging stations located behind the main library and throughout the City. Starting at 10 AM the EV expo will feature drive and rides by local EV dealers as well as display of electric vehicles by owners. In addition, there will be displays from various City Departments such as water conservation information from the Water Department and information about locations of EV chargers throughout the City. 

Diamond Bar will see an event featuring at least 20 electric vehicles ranging from the Nissan Leaf and Fiat 500e to Tesla Model S and Honda Fit EV. The event is happening on Saturday, September 12, 2015 from Noon to 4 PM at the South Coast Air Quality Management District at 21865 Copley Dr. Diamond Bar, CA 91765. 

Woodland Hills organizers have their event scheduled for Saturday, September 12 from 9 AM to Noon at the El Camino Real High School, 5440 Valley Circle Blvd., Woodland Hills, CA 91367. Six-time Emmy Nominated Actor and environmentalist Ed Begley Jr. is scheduled to appear at the event. Other scheduled participants include: SolarCity who will have a booth providing information for leasing solar panels; Pedego electric bicycles will be avaliable for test rides; and Ford will have test drives in the Cmax, Fusion, and Focus. The organizers also expect 20+ electric vehicles to be on display by their owners. 

The organizers in Valencia are holding their event in conjunction with Food Truck Saturdays in the parking lot near Dick's Sporting Goods and Jo-Ann Fabrics and Crafts, 26573 Carl Boyer Drive, Valencia, CA, from 5 PM to 7 PM on Saturday, September 12. There are typically 8-10 food trucks that show up each week. This event is scheduled to allow those interested in attending the large Los Angeles event in the morning plenty of time to join the gathering and enjoy the food trucks.

The City of Santa Monica will present the 10th Anniversary AltCar Expo, the region’s first car show dedicated to alternative fuel vehicles and transportation. The two-day event will be held at the Santa Monica Civic parking lot and East Wing, 1855 Main St., Santa Monica, CA, Friday September 18 and Saturday September 19, from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and is free to the public. The introduction will by Santa Monica Mayor Kevin McKeown co-founding member of the Sustainable Transport Network. Other presenters include former City Council Member Kelly Olsen and Plug in America Co-founder Paul Scott.
