You can get behind the wheel of a plug-in electric car at the Los Angeles National Drive Electric Week Ride & Drive and vehicle exhibition. The event is part of a nationwide show & tell of the benefits of all-electric and plug-in hybrid-electric vehicles. The event will be held Saturday, September 16, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Los Angeles State Historic Park adjacent to Chinatown.

Cars available to view and drive will include the Chrysler Pacifica, the new Bluecar Phase 3 Car Share vehicle, the Chevrolet Bolt and Volt and the VW e-Golf.

The Tesla Model X and Model S will be available for viewing and ride-alongs.

Additional cars may be available by the event date and individual models may be subject to change.

One of the highlights of the event will be the new, redesigned and longer-range next-generation Nissan LEAF, making one of its first public appearances.

The event is an opportunity to talk to EV owners who already have made the switch to zero and ultra-low emission vehicles. The cars lower your fuel costs while reducing the nation's dependence on petroleum.

BlueLA, an all-electric car sharing service, will be coming to central Los Angeles soon. The service will provide access to a network of shared EVs which will be available 24/7 from self-service locations.

Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s will have information about their "Charge Up L.A." rebate program for home and workplace charging infrastructure.

You can also learn more about federal and state incentives for electric vehicles and solar power.

This will be a family-friendly event. Enjoy a fun day in the park with kids’ activities, food trucks, vendors, EV displays and speakers.

The first 600 test drivers will get free coupons for food from participating food trucks.

The lead sponsor of the event is Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

National presenters include Plug In America, Sierra Club and Electric Auto Association.

Additional Los Angeles event sponsors are: Southern California Edison, greenlots, Southern California Ford Dealers, Chrysler, BMW i, Chevrolet, Volkswagen and Center for Sustainable Energy.

Local supporters are: The Office of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Los Angeles Department of Transportation and BlueLA.
