GS Battery boasts that their top-of-the-line ECO R SLR1000-2 is rated for 5,000 cycles at a 70% depth-of-discharge. Pretty impressive numbers for a valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery. Introduced in the summer of 2015, this battery's cycle numbers put it squarely in the realm of lithium-ion battery cycles.
The SLR1000-2 is the newest battery in the company's ECO R product family of sealed and valve-regulated lead-acid batteries, which were originally introduced in 2011 to meet the specific storage needs of the solar power market. The SLR1000-2 is part of the Premium Line, which features 2V and 4V batteries from 80Ah to 1,140Ah. The batteries in this line use nano carbon enhanced negative grids. This technology provides efficient charging, high capacity retention and less risk of sulfation, which is a build-up of lead sulfate crystals inside the battery that can cause early failures of lead-acid, sealed AGM batteries.
Two additional lines round out the ECO R family. The ECO R Value Line – 12V batteries from 100Ah to 280Ah - is designed for consumers looking for a price-conscious battery option. The Value Line is rated for up to 1,500 cycles. The ECO R GS Tubular Gel line is rated to give consumers up to 3,000 cycles. The extra cycles come from the specially formulated electrolyte gel that allows the batteries to perform well in a partial state of charge (PSOC). The PSOC can shorten the life of batteries.
The GS Battery ECO R line has batteries rated from 80Ah to 3,100Ah in 2V, 6V and 12V configurations.
